The instructor was already busy
Teaching, watching the class, and keeping everyone in rhythm was already a full task. Operating a small video studio needed to fit around that work. For Green Room Fitness, I designed and installed an integrated system for hybrid yoga and spin instruction as the studio opened during the pandemic.
The important interface was on the bike
The setup brought together a Mac Pro, DMX lighting, mounted cameras, displays, video mixing, and two-way streaming. I built a physical controller mounted directly on the bike so the instructor could trigger lighting sequences, switch camera angles, and manage the stream while continuing to teach.
A different set of constraints
Preconfigured camera positions supplied different framings. The control system was designed around a moving person, occupied hands, changing light, and an audience in more than one place. The aim was simple: keep the instructor with the class instead of stopping to operate equipment.
