Spatial design · A place to work

Home office.

Designing a place for work, music, and sitting around.

My part: Space design, decoration, and buildout.
Context: Personal project

The finished office with a spiral staircase, brown sofa, piano, guitars, and Reko Rennie’s framed stencil painting. — The finished room. Stencil painting by Reko Rennie.

I designed and decorated my home office. The buildout runs from the open structure and the spiral staircase installation through to paint, wallpaper, lighting, and a place for the guitars and piano.

The framed stencil painting on the wall is a piece Reko Rennie made for me, using a stencil from the series I documented in Patternation.

Early construction showing wood framing, ceiling joists, a block wall, and people working by the windows. — Early in the buildout.

Workers positioning a metal spiral staircase within the unfinished interior. — Installing the spiral staircase.

A view down through a floor opening toward the spiral staircase. — The stair and the opening between floors.

Green paint swatches beside patterned wallpaper on an unfinished wall. — Working through paint and wallpaper choices.

The finished office interior with the black spiral staircase visible beyond the chairs and shelving. — The staircase in the finished room.
